Chemotherapy Infusion

chemotherapy bayChemotherapy is the treatment of cancer with drugs designed to destroy cancer cells so these drugs are often referred to as "anticancer" drugs. These medications are typically injected through an IV over a period of time. During these injections, patients can rest comfortably in the oversized reclining chairs with blankets, pillows, or whatever they need to make them feel more relaxed.

At CMC-NorthEast, chemotherapy treatment is administered in a light-filled area surrounded by glass walls that mimick a waterfall while overlooking the outdoor gardens and nearby fountain where wild geese splash and play. Here, our patients are away from the normal hustle and bustle of a busy hospital environment and given a chance to experience a more calming, soothing atmosphere.

While enjoying the outdoor scenery, patients can select from a variety of books and magazines, or watch television on large screen plasma TVs. Alternately, patients can create journals, healing boards, or other artistic expressions from our mobile "art cart" during their treatment.

Nurses in this area have advanced training in the administration and monitoring of chemotherapy and are completely dedicated to surrounding patients with as peaceful an environment as possible.

Patients may also enjoy the added benefits of massage therapy and pet therapy.
